Cork Oak

The Cork Oak is an evergreen oak native to the Mediterranean region, particularly common in Spain, Portugal, and Italy. This tree is famous for its thick, spongy bark, known as cork, which is harvested every 9-12 years to produce bottle stoppers, flooring, and other products. The bark regenerates naturally, making its harvesting sustainable. The Cork Oak can live up to 200 years and grow up to 20 meters tall. Its dense foliage and leathery leaves make it well-suited to dry climates.
