The small temple

The small temple

The Tempietto of Villa di Maser is one of the dearest works to the Vicentine architect.

It was built toward the end of his career, around 1580, thanks to Marcantonio Barbaro, who wished to gift the community of Maser with a new parish church.
This building fulfilled a long-held dream of Palladio: to design a church with a circular plan. The circle, being infinite, was in the architect’s view the shape that most closely represents God.
