Il Maserino Bianco 2007 awarded the Medaglia di Bronzo at the Chardonnay world championships.

Bronze Medal 2009Il Maserino Bianco 2007Il Maserino Bianco 2007, our chardonnay which passed all the phases of fermentation and fining in new wooden French oak, was awarded bronze medal at the Chardonnay du Monde 2009 competition which took place in Bourgogne.

For some time now Chardonnay has been recognised as being one of the varieties best suited to the conditions here, but it was the careful selection of the grapes carried out patiently among the rows of vines by our great team of harvesters which gave such a great start to the Il Maserino and which culminated in us receiving this prestigious prize.

Once in the winery we crushed the grapes carefully, and left the must to rest at a cold temperature to clean, before starting the fermentation process and decanting into new barrels where the must is converted into wine, finally followed by a period of fining which lasted eight months under the watchful eye of the cellar staff and careful control of the Enosis team.

When it was bottled in autumn of 2008 it already revealed its rich aromas and pleasant structure, but it is with the fining in the bottle that the chardonnay found its balance with the delicate vanilla aroma from the wood of the barrels.

At the Chardonnay du Monde, the world Chardonnay championships it performed very well and we are very proud of the recognition it received. This is the crowning glory of a mission which we undertook with Dr Lanati, to whom we and everybody who appreciates this splendid wine owes a debt of gratitude.
